Porcelain Veneers

Enhance your smile with porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain shells custom designed to fit to the front surface of your teeth. This means any existing cracks, discolouration or gaps can be hidden simply by covering them up. This effective way to create a shapely, straight and beautifully white smile is a quick and straightforward way to correct imperfections.

Our dentist may use one veneer to restore a single tooth, or a number of veneers for multiple teeth to create a more dramatic effect. Many people have small teeth resulting in spaces that may not be easily closed by orthodontics. Multiple veneers can also close small spaces and gaps between teeth which may not be easily closed by orthodontics and can provide a uniform colour, shape, and symmetry, while also making the teeth appear straight.

What are the benefits of veneers?

There are reasons why veneers are an amazing cosmetic option if you’re unhappy with your teeth.  Four benefits of veneers are:

  1. Veneers are resistant to beverages known to stain teeth such as coffee and red wine
  2. Veneers can cover up intrinsic stains which cannot be targeted by regular teeth whitening
  3. They are individually crafted by your dentist and are made to look natural
  4. They can alter the length, shape, proportion, surface texture, colour and brightness of your teeth

The porcelain veneers procedure

The process of getting porcelain veneers requires a few steps and appointments, and takes approximately two weeks.

In the initial consultation, the dentist will first plan your new smile by determining what size, shape, and the type of veneers will best complement your smile and aesthetic desires. We will then make a mould of your teeth which our laboratory will use to create your custom veneers.

Next, we will prepare your teeth by gently filing away a small amount of the front surface of the tooth (about the thickness of a fingernail) to allow space for the veneers without your smile looking too bulky. Temporary veneers will then be placed to protect the teeth while the final veneer is fabricated in a dental laboratory.

When the porcelain veneers are ready for you at your next appointment, we will bond your veneers to your teeth and you will walk out of our practice with a new and beautiful smile.

Veneers can almost fix anything, whether you have a crooked smile, misshapen teeth or just generally aesthetically unappealing teeth. Using veneers to fix these problems is a quick and very effective dental solution.
